Description

Omega 3 fatty acids from food

Plant foods, such as walnuts, flaxseed, chia seed and hemp seed, contain the omega-3 fatty acid ALA, which still needs to be converted to DHA and EPA in the body. Directly consuming DHA and EPA from fatty fish is more efficient than converting ALA to these fatty acids in the body. The use of nutritional supplements complements a healthy diet.

No less than 500 mg omega 3 per capsule

In science, there is no debate about the fact that omega-3 is extremely important for health. The best-known omega-3 fatty acids are alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). EPA and DHA have numerous health-promoting effects.* For example, these fatty acids are good for the heart, vision, brain and triglyceride levels.*

Min. 100 mg EPA and 300 mg DHA

The Vegan Omega-3 capsules are a natural product, which means that the amounts of DHA and EPA can vary. However, we do guarantee a total amount of 500 mg omega 3, and a minimum of 100 mg EPA and 300 mg DHA per capsule.

Natural and best absorbable triglyceride form

In the development of omega-3 supplementation, the active ingredients EPA and DHA are separated from the other fatty acids. There are two ways to do this:

  1. In the process where we extract the forms, ethyl esters are formed. These are less easy for the body to absorb. 2 In order to absorb this omega-3 properly, the body is dependent on the substance glycerol. However, if this nutrient is not present in sufficient quantities in your body, you will not absorb the omega-3 efficiently.
  2. A higher-quality process ensures that the substances are returned to their original molecular structure. Triglycerides are what we call the omega 3 that results from this process. It is the best absorbable form, independent of excipients for absorption into the body. 2 This is also the reason why our Vegan Omega-3 only contains triglycerides.

The production of most types of fish oil requires large quantities of fish, which is depleting the oceans. The call for a sustainable and traceable source of omega-3 is therefore great. The renowned algae producer DSM® has taken on the ambitious challenge and is now producing omega-3 fatty acids from microalgae. This contributes to the global challenge of maintaining the natural biodiversity of our oceans.

Production process has minimal CO2 emissions

The production of life's™ OMEGA consists of 4 steps:

  1. The process starts with sugar and seaweed . The sugar comes from renewable beers, wheat and corn. The algae strain is called Schizochytrium sp. DSM® grows this in its factory in Nebraska (USA).
  2. The algae cells multiply during the fermentation process where they convert the sugar into omega-3 fatty acids, which accumulate in oil vesicles.
  3. The cell wall of the vesicles is then destroyed by the downstream process . In this way, the oil is separated from the water and the end result is a highly concentrated algae oil and a liquid by-product .
  4. The by-product is used by DSM® as a protein source or can be converted into biogas for electricity production.

Naturally high EPA concentration for algae oil

What makes this algae oil special is the naturally high EPA concentration. The algae strain (Schizochytrium) that DSM® uses in the process has the advantage that it produces both EPA and DHA. Schizochytrium is a natural algae strain from the North Pacific Ocean and is not genetically modified. The end product is therefore an exceptionally pure algae oil with a concentration of more than 50% omega-3 fatty acids.

High dose of vegan vitamin E protects against oxidation

Omega 3 fatty acids are sensitive to oxidation. When the oil oxidizes, the fatty acids become rancid and lose some of their effectiveness. That is why we have added no less than 2.1 mg of the antioxidant vitamin E, which protects the omega 3 from oxidation

Exceptionally low TOTOX oxidation value of <8

Another unique feature of our Vegan Omega-3 capsules is the exceptionally low TOTOX oxidation value (<8). The TOTOX value is an indicator of the purity and absence of contaminants in the oil. The lower this value, the cleaner the omega 3. Legally, the TOTOX must be below 26. With a value below 8, our Vegan algae oil is doing exceptionally well!

No fishy burps

Due to the extremely low TOTOX and the addition of vitamin E, you will not experience fishy burps when using this algae oil. The burping of fatty acids is related to the degree to which the oil is oxidized. 1

Softgels prevent algae taste

Our vegan algae oil is available in capsule form. The capsule ensures that you do not have to taste the specific taste of the algae oil. This is generally not experienced as very pleasant.
